Holidu takes over Gites.com

First acquisition in the Netherlands

Munich, July 1st, 2026 – Holidu has acquired the Dutch holiday home portal Gites (gites.com), continuing its expansion across Europe. This marks the Munich-based company’s first acquisition in the Netherlands, and the 14th transaction under the company’s integration and partnership strategy. The acquisition follows Holidu’s strategy of integrating established local holiday home portals into its proprietary technology platform.

Specialist for France Holidays in the Netherlands

Founded in Rotterdam in 2001, Gites.com specializes in holiday accommodations in France for travelers from the Netherlands and Belgium. The portal offers around 4,000 holiday homes, most of which are rented by hosts from the Netherlands, Belgium, and France. Through the acquisition, Holidu expands its portfolio in France and further strengthens its presence among hosts and guests in the Netherlands, one of Europe’s largest source markets for travel to France. The Dutch market has also become one of the company’s fastest-growing sources of bookings in recent years. Gites.com will continue to operate under its existing brand, and the team will remain in place.

Hosts gain access to a modern platform that enables them to manage bookings and settings in one place, regardless of whether reservations come through external channels or their own website. This saves time and reduces administrative work. The software is complemented by local expert teams.

Guests will benefit from a broader selection of accommodations in France and direct online booking through the trusted platform they already know.

Holiday Rental France

Through the acquisition, Holidu expands its portfolio in France.

Growth Through Local Brands and Centralized Technology

Europe’s holiday rental market is the largest in the world. At the same time, the industry is undergoing significant change: regulatory requirements are becoming more complex, distribution channels more diverse, and expectations from both guests and hosts regarding digital solutions continue to rise. Local portals often enjoy strong customer trust and significant reach in their markets. At the same time, they frequently lack the scale needed to make the necessary investments in technology and infrastructure on their own. Holidu therefore acquires not only brands and customer relationships but also fully integrates these platforms into its proprietary technology platform within just a few months.

„The European holiday rental market remains fragmented and has many local portals built on years of trust with their hosts and guests. Operating across many regions, our technology platform lets us build things a regional player never could. We want to deliver innovation, more bookings, and less work for our hosts and guests.”

„Our goal has always been to make renting out a holiday home simple and effective for our hosts. The market has become more complex, and Holidu offers the tools and scale to deal with that properly. It means more reach and less manual work for our hosts, while keeping the personal support they are used to.”

Holidu has built an AI-enabled M&A muscle

To integrate new platforms more quickly, Holidu built a repeatable integration playbook that allows local portals to remain while operating on a shared technology platform. AI is increasingly helping automate and accelerate parts of that process even further, substantially reducing the time and cost of integration. What previously often took months or years can now be completed within just a few weeks, or even days.

„The deal was never the hard part — the migration afterwards was, which used to take months. AI now simplifies a large part of that work.”

— Johannes Siebers, CEO and Co-Founder, Holidu

The strategy is increasingly paying off. With Gites.com, the company founded by brothers Johannes and Michael Siebers has now completed its 14th acquisition. Previous acquisitions include Gites.fr in France, Clubrural and Finca Mallorca in Spain, as well as Ferienwohnungen.de and Bestfewo.de in Germany.

Organic Growth Complements Acquisition Strategy

Founded by brothers Johannes Siebers, CEO, and Michael Siebers, CTO, Holidu started as a consumer booking platform; today, more than 70% of revenue comes from its holiday rental management platform, the software and services used by both organically acquired hosts and hosts joining through acquisitions. Holidu now manages more than 60,000 holiday homes across European prime holiday destinations, with booking platforms reaching over 100 million users a year.

Acquisitions account for roughly 30% of Holidu’s supply growth in 2026. The larger share remains organic. Earlier this year, the company opened a new office in Strasbourg and is currently expanding its European footprint with another office in Croatia. Holidu now operates 29 locations and employs more than 700 people across Europe. Further expansion into additional European markets is planned.
