Methodology:

For this study, British cities with more than 100,000 inhabitants were considered and the data was gathered for five types of cultural sites in each city (museums, art galleries, libraries, theatres, and cinemas) for each city on Google maps in January 2022. The ranking was made by giving each attraction a “rating points” score (avg rating * the number of reviews). The sum of the rating points for each type of attraction in each city was then divided by the total number of reviews for that city overall, to come up with an average rating out of 5. For museums and art galleries, only results with more than 5 Google reviews were considered. For libraries, theatres and cinemas, the results with more than one review were counted. Furthermore, the results were manually revised, in order to maintain the quality and assure no false or duplicated results.
